Sat 5 Oct 13:00-16:30 & Sun 6 Ocy 10:00-13:30 h

Teacher
Bettina Neuhaus

Follow-up to previous experiences with 'poetic imagery in dancing'

For whom

This Skinner Releasing Technique™ workshop is for people with some SRT experience*, who want to further develop their technical and creative skills in dance.
We work from poetic images and SRT material, which were introduced in the SRT workshop of March 2024. This will be further built upon, creating space for further development.
Mixed level.

Content
Participants will learn new principles and poetic images of the Skinner Releasing Technique™ (SRT), an innovative approach to dance and movement training developed by American dance artist Joan Skinner (1924-2021). There is also time to playfully integrate the new releasing principles into your own dance and improvisation.

In SRT, guided poetic imagery is used to stimulate the dancer's imagination and promote nuanced experiences of movement.
At other times during the lesson, participants learn to perceive their own physical patterns more consciously through hands-on assignments with a partner: the touch helps to release unnecessary tension, so that new sensations, connections and movement possibilities can arise.
Attention is paid to, among other things, free breathing, allowing movement, the autonomy of different body parts and the play with gravity and balance.
Furthermore, flexibility, effortlessness, multi-directional alignment, and presence in movement and stillness are some of the essential practice areas of SRT.

SRT can support any movement style and activity while promoting artistic sensitivity and creative development.

The workshop is given in English, parts will be translated into Dutch if necessary.
