Are you considering a job in education or are you curious what it means to work as a teacher or in an education related job? Then this Online Career College could help you gaining insight into the career opportunities related to education!
During the Career College a panel of speakers with an education related job - mostly teachers, but teaching at different educational levels - will be present. They all have a background in science and/or medical background and will be happy to talk about their careers and to share their experience with you.
It is with great pleasure to present the panel members who will be joining this event:
- Fouzia Lghoul Oulad Saïd – Teacher and Researcher, Leiden Academic Centre for Drug Research (LACDR)
- Toke Egberts – Study Advisor Teacher Education Programme ICLON, Leiden University (former Biology Teacher)
- Julia Caussin – Education & Strategy Policy Advisor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universiteit Utrecht
- Birgit van Daalen – Mathematics Teacher, ISW Hoogeland
- Felix Kok – Trainee at Trainees in Onderwijs & Physics Teacher at Johan de Wittcollege, Den Haag
There will be the opportunity to discuss several topics with the panel members, such as:
* What exactly are the activities of a teacher? How does a normal day looks like?
* Which skills are necessary to be successful in the educational field? Could it be something for you?
* What is important for employers when applying for an educational position?
* Is a PhD degree a benefit or a disadvantage for a career in education?
* How do you become a teacher?
Join the discussion and ask your questions about the opportunities and challenges, frustrations and success factors of working in education.
This career college is free of charge and available to all Bachelor and Master students and recent graduates of Leiden University. Note: In contrast to last semester, this event can now be followed by students from all faculties and study programmes.
Although the participating panel members have a background in science or (bio)medical sciences, this career college is available for students from all faculties. During this event, we will also pay attention to general topics like obtaining your teaching qualification.
The Career College will take place online via Kaltura. If you register for the career college, you will receive further details and a link to the Kaltura room a day before the event at the latest.
