Dr Graça Machel will speak about her work and, together with researchers from Leiden University, the UN and the African Studies Centre, discuss and reflect on the theme of Intergenerational Justice and Human Rights in a time of planetary crises in Africa in a series of cross-disciplinary and reflective discussions on health, development and well-being in Africa.
Dr Machel is a prominent African stateswoman and humanitarian. She has played a significant role in advocating the rights and well-being of women and children globally. In 2021, Leiden University awarded her with an honorary doctorate in recognition of her exceptional contribution in the field of children's rights.
