Thematic meeting Leiden Empowerment Fund
Finding an internship as a first-generation student
- Fons van de Wetering
- Thursday 29 September 2022
Pieter de la Court
2333 AK Leiden
As a first-generation student, you may find it harder to find an internship. You may not know where to start looking and may not have any contacts in the industry or organisation that you want to work for who could offer advice.
In this meeting Fons van de Wetering will tell you about his experience as a first-generation student, including his internship at the Dutch Embassy in Kazachstan. Fons is an MA student in Russian and Eurasian Studies and member of the United Netherlands Delegation of 2022-2023.
Are you interested in Fons' story and in meeting other first-generation students? Then you should definitely join this event! The language of this meeting will be English.

Leiden Empowerment Fund
With the Leiden Empowerment Fund project we aim to share knowledge, strengths and skills and are establishing a university-wide network of first generation students and academics, connecting what is already there. We would love to welcome you at our meetings in which we will have informative sessions and the opportunity to meet up with each other to share experiences and needs!
The Leiden Empowerment Fund (LEF) is made possible by the donors of the Leiden University Fund (LUF) and was a farewell gift to our former Rector Magnificus Carel Stolker. It is supported and carried out by the Diversity and Inclusion Expertise Office.Read more about LEF
