Living Cycles – Embodied sharing & (ex)changing

A somatic approach to the continuous cycle of perceiving, imagining, and dancing.

In this workshop, we explore how this cycle contributes to ease, immediacy, and connection in our movement, and how it invites us to experience the joy of dancing and the creation of improvised compositions.

For whom
For movement lovers of all levels who wish to expand their body awareness and discover the richness and inexhaustible potential of the multi-layered body through dance.

Content
• Through guided exploration, touch, and partner work, we tune into the body. We explore the materiality of bones, joints, and tissues, their biomechanics, and the interconnections that shape our movement.

• By dancing ourselves and witnessing the dance of others, we open up different perspectives on the dancing body. We focus our attention on aspects such as form, flow, rhythm, spatiality, imagery, and atmosphere. These observations fuel the imagination and allow new dance material and surprising compositions to emerge in a direct and intuitive way.

• Moving, drawing, and writing become three complementary ways of creating, responding, and reflecting. Together, they form a cycle in which experiences, inspiration, and material development translate from one medium to another, leading to improvised solos, duets, and group improvisations.

• At times, music is used to support greater flow, clarity, and ease in the dancing. • We conclude the day with time for integration, allowing experiences to settle so you can go home with new insights and renewed energy.
