Tahir Abbas becomes Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences

Tahir Abbas, associate professor at ISGA, has been appointed as a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. The Academy of Social Sciences is the UK’s national academy of academics, learned societies and practitioners in the social sciences. Its purpose is to promote social science in the United Kingdom for public benefit.

Abbas is enthusiastic about his Fellowship. 'Being recognised as a Fellow of the Academy of Social Science by my peers provides me with an additional platform to help disseminate my research and to help raise its impact among a much wider community of users, not just in the UK but across the world.' The Academy has around 1,500 individual Fellows, each of whom has been elected by peers for the excellence of their work and their wider impact, as scholars in academia or leaders in a range of other professional sectors.

The main goals of the Academy are to recognize and celebrate expertise for leading social scientists in higher education and across a breadth of other sectors, networking, sharing knowledge and joint activities with member social science societies to help raise the profile of the social sciences, foster beneficial collaboration, and build capacity in the learned society sector.
