Vacancy – Student Assistant Support Accreditation - Academic Year 2023-2024

Master students are invited to apply for the position of Student Assistant Support Accreditation to serve during the Fall semester of AY 2023-2024, with possible extension of one additional semester

Project description

Degree programmes must be assessed and accredited once every six years to ensure they provide a high standard of education. Leiden University College The Hague will be accredited in the Academic Year of 2023-2024. These Accreditations consist of the submission of a Self Evaluation Report and supporting documentation, as well as a visitation by an expert panel. The project for the Student Assistant is to prepare all the data and documentation for the Self Evaluation Report and Appendices for the Educational Director and Educational Policy Advisor, and to assist with the organisation of the site visit.

Responsibilities

The Student Assistant will have a supporting role to the Education Director (ED) and the Educational Policy Advisor (EPA) in the Accreditation process. Specifically the Student Assistant will be responsible for collecting, compiling and preparing the data and documentation required for the accreditation. This will involve delving into the programme‘s digital archives and working with the Information Management department to retrieve the required data. The Student Assistant will also make the data presentable in graphs and tables, and work on the layout and formatting of the Self Evaluation Report.

The Student Assistant will fall under the supervision of the Educational Policy Advisor and they will work closely together with the Education Director. Meetings with the ED and EPA are held on a regular basis to give and receive updates and to keep track of progress.

The SASA is appointed as student assistant for 8 hours a week. Due to Dutch labour law requirements student assistants must have Dutch health insurance upon appointment. The Student Assistant will also be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement

Profile

  • Good skills in Word and Excel, specifically with regards to making and editing tables, figures, graphs etc.
  • Attention to detail
  • Discreet with sensitive information
  • Possesses a constructive and proactive mindset
  • Able to work on projects independently
  • Possesses strong communication skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Dutch language skills are a bonus but not required

After a review of all applications, shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview with the Educational Director and the Educational Policy Advisor on either Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 September.

The selected applicant will be nominated by LUC to the Faculty Board of the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs, which formally appoints the SASA. The SASA is appointed for 8 hours a week, for a period of 5 months (with possibility of extension) from September to January. Please note that this position of SASA is not open to students of LUC.
