Students and PhD candidates: travel to Berlin to solve sustainability challenges

11 May 2026

Are you a student or PhD candidate? Would you like to work on real-life sustainability challenges in Berlin with students across Europe? If so, apply by 24 May to join the Una Europa Student Project Incubator.

Una Europa Student Project Incubator

This sixth edition of the Una Europa Student Project Incubator is a challenge-based programme. Students from across the Una Europa alliance – a network of 11 universities, including Leiden University – will come together to work together on sustainability issues that are connected to chemistry, its societal impacts, and economic realities.

Why take part?

  • Put your academic skills into practice by working on a real-life challenge;
  • Attend a high-profile academic conference, network with international students and researchers and take the stage to present your prototype;
  • Receive a grant covering travel, accommodation, and conference fees.

Who can apply?

  • Bachelor's and master's students, and PhD candidates, at Leiden University and LUMC.
  • All academic disciplines are welcome. While the challenges will have a chemistry focus, we’re looking for holistic and interdisciplinary solutions.
  • Candidates with at least B2 level English.
  • Selected students will receive a grant to cover their conference fee, travel costs and accommodation in Berlin.

How do I apply?

Read more on the Una Europa website and fill in the application form by 23.59 CEST on 24 May 2026. You will be notified whether you have been accepted by 19 June 2026.
