Ventilation system maintenance in the Gorlaeus Building: 19–23 October
From Monday 19 to Friday 23 October, maintenance will be carried out on the air handling units (AHUs) in the Gorlaeus Building, betweeen 07.00 and 16.00 hr. The work will be carried out in different wings according to the schedule below.
-
Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 October: wings GE and GW
-
Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 October: wings EE and DE
-
Friday 23 October: FMD & ARF
What impacts will this have?
During the maintenance, air extraction may temporarily be less effective. The minimum required level of ventilation is expected to be maintained. However, a brief reduction in or interruption to air extraction cannot be ruled out entirely.
What should you take into account?
If you work in one of the wings listed above, please take the maintenance into account when planning your work and adjust your activities accordingly. For example, you could focus on office-based tasks to avoid having to use a fume cupboard during the maintenance.
If you are not using a fume cupboard, please switch it to night mode or low-ventilation mode and keep the windows closed. This will help keep the available ventilation capacity as stable as possible.
If you need to use a fume cupboard and work with hazardous substances during the maintenance, please take extra care in case the extraction is reduced or interrupted. Limit the quantities of hazardous substances you work with and take into account their toxicity and evaporation rate, as well as the effects of elevated temperatures.
