Smoking behind the blue line
Leiden University has been smoke-free since 1 August 2020. This means that smoking is not permitted in or around university buildings or anywhere on university grounds. The university grounds are marked by blue lines.
Measures for those who disregard the blue line
From Monday 9 November, a smoking policy ambassador will also be stationed outside to inform smokers about the university's smoking policy.
Staff and students who disregard the blue line will be approached and reminded of the rules. We do this to keep Leiden University smoke-free and avoid substantial fines.
We count on your cooperation!
