Cartoon drawing: find your cartoon style
Tuesday from 20:00-21:30 h
- Teacher
- Maarten Wolterink
For whom?
Do you want to sharpen your drawing skills and mix them with humour? Would you even like to have a stepping stone to practice the profession of cartoonist?
Content
In six lessons we cover the technical aspects of cartoons. The goal is to create the world (your world) while drawing. With figures that support your image concept with their posture and expression. Attention is also paid to metaphors. Because bringing the subject into a different setting often tells even better what is going on than the original situation. As a teacher, I give examples and tips, but it is not really needed to imitate them. You will receive an overview and can then determine your preferences. A modest part of the course is about the field of work of cartoonists. How do you move forward, what kind of organizations are there and what about the payments? (Spoiler: often too little)
The course includes the use of material during the lessons. We mainly work with an ordinary pencil and a fine liner or felt-tip pen. So just black and white. Only in lessons 5 and 6 we will be using coloured pencils.
