Shape the future of law! Join the Legal Tech Challenge 2026 and develop smart, digital solutions that will make legal services more accessible, efficient, and humane.
Technology is transforming every sector and the legal world is no exception
In this competition you will find new ways to use technological solutions in legal challenges. You will work alongside organisations, get the opportunity to implement your solutions in real life, and learn many important practical skills along the way. There are even cash prizes to be won!
- First prize: €3,000 per team
- Second prize: €1,500 per team
- Third prize: €500 per team
Even if you don’t win a prize, all participants will receive a certificate showing that you’ve contributed to practical legal solutions. This is a great addition to your CV.

Legal Tech Challenge
The Legal Tech Challenge challenges students to use technology to make legal services smarter, more accessible and more people-oriented.
Students from Leiden University, Hogeschool Leiden and MBO Rijnland work together on real-life case studies brought to the table by our partners. Digital solutions are developed that will bring about innovations and improvements in legal services.
The aim is simple: Help the legal world adapt to technological developments without losing sight of the user.
Over the course of 6 meetings, students will:
- Choose a case suggested by one of the partners
- Receive training in problem-solving and how to develop an app
- Receive feedback and training on presenting a pitch
- Present a digital solution during the final
