A little preparation

As a student you will often need to prepare some readings or assignments before a lecture and tutorial. To make to most out of this student Experience Day we want to ask you to prepare this small assignment.

During the mini-lecture and tutorial, we’ll explore the theme of dignity and values. To help you prepare, we’d like to ask you to do two things beforehand:

1. Watch the short documentary
Watch the 15-minute video A Struggle for Care: Public Health and Private Insurance in Brasília about Erik Bähre’s research in Brazil.
Watch the video

2. Have a look at your own social media
Can you find examples of how social media can either strengthen or undermine someone’s dignity? And can you find examples where people’s choices are influenced not only by money, but also by other values, norms or ideas?

You don’t need to hand anything in or prepare extensively, but just give these questions some thought beforehand. We’ll explore them further together during the tutorial.
