Study planning and support

In the third year of your bachelor’s programme you have freedom to choose how you wish to personalize your degree. If you already know which direction you want to go (for instance in which Master’s programme you wish to continue your studies) you can choose courses in that area to meet entry requirements for that particular Master’s programme. If you are not sure which direction you want to go; then you can choose elective courses from different disciplines and further orient yourself. Leiden University offers many different electives and minors, but you can also choose to study abroad or do an internship. Bear in mind that minors and elective courses have entry requirements. Consult the e-Prospectus to find out more. If you wish to go abroad or do an internship, it is important to meet deadline and start preparations well in advance.

Support

First year students are guided by their tutor in the Skills Labs. At the end of the first year students receive Binding Study Advice (BSA).  The Binding Study Advice entails that you need to earn at least 45 out of the 60 study credits at the end of the first year to be able to continue in your second year. The Binding Study Advice entails that you need to earn at least 45 out of the 60 study credits at the end of the first year to be able to continue in your second year.
