Dit proefschrift richt zich op vragen over het doel van onderwijs en wat het betekent om opgeleid te zijn. Deze vragen zijn tijdloos, aangezien de antwoorden op deze vragen altijd in zekere mate verband houden met de hedendaagse samenleving.
