Support group for students that experienced Sexual Abuse/Assault

WHAT TO EXPECT Our goal is to create a non-judgmental safer space and community for peers to discuss struggles related to SA* experiences by sharing feelings, coping mechanisms, and tools. Because this issue affects people regardless of background, gender, or sexuality, anyone is welcome to join.

The how

Starting in late September, we will host two-hour meetings twice a month. These sessions will include check-ins, themed conversations, creative expression, and discussing current struggles. We are happy to receive your suggestions to ensure the experience is helpful for everyone involved.

What you can expect from us

As student facilitators and peers, we are not professional therapists. We participate alongside you while facilitating the sessions' structure and caring for the safety of the group.

ABOUT SAFETY & JOINING

This peer group is not a replacement for therapy. To ensure safety we collaborate with Leiden University and will share professional resources. To protect your privacy, we maintain confidentiality and offer an anonymous Discord community alongside the group. We do not ban potentially triggering words to allow truthful expression, but we communicate meeting topics beforehand so you can safely assess your limits and sit out if needed.

If you need more information about safety, please see:  'the code of conduct' from de University FSW.

The meetings take place from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The support group will start in September and will meet once a month at the Agora Building of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences (FSW).
