When deciding what to study you undoubtedly read a lot of information about your study programme. Leiden University employs various systems to provide information about programmes and courses and to facilitate communication between lecturers and students.

Asian Studies (60 EC)

The MA in Asian Studies is a one-year programme with five different specialisations:

The structure of the programme allows us to cater for students from a wide range of undergraduate backgrounds. The programme’s modular structure with elective courses in each of the two semesters and an individually supervised thesis allows students a considerable degree of freedom and individual specialization by country, region, discipline, or field. 

The degree provides graduates with Asia expertise in demand for careers in such areas as journalism and publishing, international trade and marketing, business, public relations, education, development aid, and in government, international organizations and NGOs. Leiden graduates in Asian Studies often find employment in Asia itself with foreign-invested firms, as journalists, or with local offices of international organisations or NGOs.
