Refugee students

Together with the Foundation for Refugee Students (UAF), Leiden University strives to support and counsel highly skilled refugees in the Netherlands. As part of this effort a special meeting place has been created at Leiden University.

The Meeting Point

The Meeting Point is a meeting place especially for students who have recently come to the Netherlands after fleeing their own countries. It is place where they can meet each other and exchange experiences, whilst receiving guidance and advice. All university students and staff, both Dutch and international, are also welcome at the Meeting Point.

First time visitors should go to PITSstop or information desk 5 on the ground floor of Plexus to ask the way. For more information please send an email to: MeetingPoint@sea.leidenuniv.nl.

Preparatory Year Leiden

The Preparatory Year Leiden (Voorbereidend Jaar Leiden) offers students aged 18 to 30, with a refugee background, the opportunity to develop their skills and attain the level required to join higher education. This initiative of Leiden University and Leiden University of Applied Sciences (Hogeschool Leiden) enables refugee students to join Bachelor’s study programmes.
