Welcome to the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology at Leiden University!
The MSc CA/DS programme starts at Monday 3 September 2018 with an introductory meeting.
Time 11:00 - 15:00
Location: Pieter de la Court Building, Wassenaarseweg 52, 2333 AK Leiden
During the first meeting, we will start with a brief presentation of the MSc programme. We will also make a first inventory of the topics each one of you would like to do research on. Therefore, you will be asked to come up with a (preliminary) topic for your MSc research project, to describe the location(s) where you would like to do fieldwork, what contacts you have in relation to that proposed research site, and whether you possess the relevant language competences. From the first week onwards, you are expected to work on the development of your research topic.
Also, you should consider which of our faculty you prefer to have as an individual supervisor. You can find information on research at the website of CA-OS. All senior (PhD holding) staff-members of the Institute CA-DS are (in principle) available for individual MSc supervision.
The study programme and course descriptions are offered in the e-Prospectus. To see the course programme, choose the specialisation you are interested in.
Students that have applied for the programme will get emails with more information in the last week of July and the last week of August.
- Please read the information in the e-Prospectus as that will answer many of your questions.
- On our website you will find the list of possible internships as well as the ideas/topics of other types of research.
- Please think about your research location, and also read the information about the field schools (only for september intake).
