Working on your CV during your studies

During your studies you’ll spend most of your time acquiring new knowledge about your chosen discipline. But it is also important to develop other relevant skills during your student days. Don’t overlook this or leave it to the last minute.

Start working on your CV from your first academic year onwards. This will help you to stand out from the crowd when you start applying for jobs.

Improve your chances of getting the job you want by doing extra activities during your studies, for example:

  • an (extra) internship
  • time abroad (studying or internship)
  • board membership experience with a study/student association or teaching committee
  • a programme at the Honours Academy
  • extra courses, a minor or a second study programme
  • relevant part-time work
  • relevant voluntary work
  • learning job application skills

Take a look at the Career Route Planner on the LU Career Zone, for career preparation activities you can undertake each academic year.
